Google Play to finally free Pepe and Doge ..
In a major change to corporate policy, Google have lifted the ban on digital assets in apps and games on their Google Play store.
This major shift in attitude means application developers can now build products that allow users to buy, sell, hold or earn digital assets including cryptocurrency and NFTs.
Google Play is the largest app store by number of apps and downloads, accounting for almost half of all app downloads in the world.
Such a change in policy opens the door for popular blockchain gaming platforms to access mainstream audiences.
NFT rewards
With $42.3 billion spent across 110 billion Google Play apps and games it is clear to see why this is big news and presents amazing opportunities for the previously niche world of blockchain games and applications.
Google Play Group Product Manager Joseph Mills was keen to point out that this change in approach would allow partners to “reimagine traditional games with user-owned content” which “boost loyalty through unique NFT rewards.”
Mills went on to say “while tokenized assets are meant to build more enriched, immersive experiences, as an added user protection, developers may not promote or glamorize any potential earning from playing or trading activities.”
‘NFT sharing’
So how long will it be before we start to see popular meme characters like Doge and Pepe available on the Google Play store?
Answer: not long at all. Here at Project Lambo we have developed our own take on the Pepe and Doge memes by developing NFTs which can be used in our ground breaking and unique gameplay. Introducing Zeus Pepe and Spartant Doge. Rather than simply a collectible piece of art, you can use your NFT to complete tasks and earn rewards while you play our flagship game ‘The Rise of Sheertopia.’
Moreover, NFT collectors with limited time for gameplay can enhance their characters’ progression by lending their NFTs to dedicated gamers who excel at overcoming challenges, all within the framework of our innovative ‘NFT Sharing’ concept.
Shift in attitude
Such a radical change in policy signals a shift in attitude towards Web3 by Google Play and forms part of a wider approach by Google intended to help Web3 developers accelerate their start-ups.
Without doubt this now opens the door for the mainstream adoption of novel blockchain concepts like DeFi, NFTs and Play to Earn which have the potential to radically change society.
